Ojokoro APC Leaders Back Sanusi as Consensus Candidate for LG Polls

Published

on

To reaffirm its position on the adoption of Mobolaji Sanusi as the consensus chairmanship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ojokoro LCDA ahead of the forthcoming local government elections, the APC apex council in the area has submitted a formal letter listing the authentic leaders who endorsed his candidacy.

The endorsement list, sent to the APC Lagos State Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, on Saturday, serves to validate an earlier declaration made on Friday, which officially recognised Sanusi, a former Managing Director of the Lagos State Signage and Advertising Agency (LASAA), as the party’s consensus candidate in Ojokoro.

In the letter titled “Clarification and Submission of Authentic List Signed by Majority of Approved Ojokoro Apex Leaders for Mobolaji Sanusi as Chairmanship Consensus Candidate,” the council emphasized that the signatories voluntarily endorsed Sanusi. The group also urged the state chairman to disregard an alternative list allegedly submitted by Hon. Benjamin Olabinjo and Hon. James Faleke, both members of the House of Representatives.

The letter read in part:

“Consequent upon our letter of yesterday, Friday, May 2, 2025, kindly find attached the original list of authentic leaders that voluntarily signed for the adoption of Mr. Mobolaji Sanusi as the consensus candidate of our dear APC in the upcoming local government elections. The names are provided to dispel any doubts and guide the party appropriately.”

The attached list includes prominent political figures and party stalwarts from Ojokoro and Lagos State:

  • Hon. Ipoola Omisore – Two-term member, Lagos State House of Assembly

  • Chief Oluyomi Olaogun – Veteran politician and respected octogenarian

  • Otunba Aremu Akindele – Pioneer chairman, Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government

  • Hon. Adisa Owolabi – Immediate past member, House of Representatives

  • Alhaji Aminu Amosun – Former APC LG chairman, Ojokoro

  • Dr. Idris Salako – Former Lagos State commissioner

In a petition addressed to the Chairman of the APC Electoral Committee, Babatunde Ogala, the group strongly condemned the reported imposition of a candidate without due process. They described the move as “undemocratic, provocative, and a direct affront to the will of the people.”

The petition, signed by representatives from all nine wards in Yaba LCDA, was endorsed by:

  • Ward A – Domingo Babajide

  • Ward B – Kemi Aboyarin

  • Ward C – Adediran Olorunnimbe

  • Ward D – Taoreed Abiona

  • Ward F – Oladunjoye Omoniyi

  • Ward G – Olaofe Fatai

  • Ward H – Idayat Abdul Rasaq
