Governor Sanwo-Olu Meets New Lagos Speaker Meranda, Commits to Productive Collaboration
Sanwo-Olu Pledges Strong Partnership with New Lagos Speaker Mojisola Meranda.
On Monday, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu met with the newly appointed Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda, and pledged to work closely with her to implement policies that will benefit all Lagosians. Meranda, along with other principal officers of the House, was welcomed by the governor and his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, just before the weekly State Executive Council meeting.
Meranda assumed the role of Speaker last Monday following the removal of her predecessor, Mudashiru Obasa, amid allegations of misconduct and financial misappropriations. On Friday, Meranda presided over her first sitting, establishing a new leadership and a seven-member Selection Committee.
During the courtesy visit at the Governor’s Office in Alausa, Ikeja, Sanwo-Olu led the Speaker and her team to the Council Chamber, where they reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a strong, collaborative relationship between the executive and legislative branches of government.
“The alignment between the Executive and Legislative arms ensures that Lagos remains a model of governance excellence,” said Sanwo-Olu on X (formerly twitter) “Together, we will build on past successes and work tirelessly to deliver transformational progress for Lagos, implementing policies and projects that will bring our Greater Lagos vision to life.”
