Lagos LG Poll: Tension Mounts in Yaba APC Over Fresh Primary Demand

Stakeholders and top leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA) are demanding a fresh chairmanship primary ahead of the July 12 local government elections in Lagos State.

In a petition addressed to the Chairman of the APC Electoral Committee, Babatunde Ogala, the group strongly condemned the reported imposition of a candidate without due process. They described the move as “undemocratic, provocative, and a direct affront to the will of the people.”

The petition, signed by representatives from all nine wards in Yaba LCDA, was endorsed by:

  • Ward B – Kemi Aboyarin

  • Ward C – Adediran Olorunnimbe

  • Ward D – Taoreed Abiona

  • Ward E – Alani Ifatokun

Identifying themselves as the Apex Leadership of APC in Yaba, the signatories warned that any attempt to impose a candidate could spark internal unrest, weaken party unity, and damage the APC’s credibility and electoral prospects in the LCDA.
