Lagos APC Chairmanship Primaries Spark Protests as Full List of Candidates is Released
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has wrapped up its chairmanship primaries ahead of the July 12 local government elections, unveiling candidates for 55 out of 57 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
While the party made significant progress in finalizing its lineup, the process was marred by protests from some aspirants and their agents who alleged irregularities and vote manipulation in several locations.
Chairman of the APC Electoral Committee, Babatunde Ogala, acknowledged the grievances and admitted that “human errors may have occurred” during the exercise. He urged aggrieved aspirants to submit their petitions to the party’s Appeal Committee, assuring that valid complaints with credible evidence would be addressed accordingly.
