Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Agbado/Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos State—including party leaders, ward chairmen, and members—have reiterated their total rejection of the alleged imposition of Ishola Abiodun Ejigbadero as the party’s flagbearer for the upcoming July 12 local government elections.

During a press conference held at the party secretariat on Friday, LGA Apex Leader, Cooperator Olusegun Shodiya, stated that their position was taken in the best long-term interest of the APC. “We do not expect any right-thinking member to support such imposition unless the aim is to de-market the party,” Shodiya said.

Shodiya, alongside other key figures such as former LGA scribe Alh. Olanrewaju Baruwa, LGA Vice Chairman Mrs. Funmilayo Ojelabi, and LGA Woman Leader Mrs. Mary Ishola, insisted that Ejigbadero has never been an APC member nor participated in party activities within the LCDA. He referenced a letter from the executive committee of Ward E (Agbelekale/Olota)—the ward Ejigbadero claims to represent—affirming his non-involvement.

He also asserted that Ejigbadero did not win the party’s primaries, and expressed confidence in the Primary Elections Appeal Committee to uphold internal party rules and ensure justice.

“As committed party members, we firmly oppose this attempt to impose a candidate who lacks grassroots presence and party affiliation,” Shodiya said. He further stated that they support the incumbent chairman, Hon. David Famuyiwa, for a second term based on his performance and party loyalty.

The stakeholders distanced themselves from a circulating communiqué on social media suggesting that the party had resolved the issue. “That statement does not represent us. We remain loyal followers of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his leadership,” Shodiya emphasized.

“In Agbado/Oke-Odo, we are Tinubu loyalists. We believe in his leadership and have no reason to deviate from this path—now or in the future,” the group concluded.
