The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has introduced two groundbreaking digital initiatives—a WhatsApp-based AI chatbot, ‘Ask INU’, and a Self-Reporting Evidence Portal—to improve access to support services for domestic violence survivors and mandated reporters.

These innovations align with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to ensuring justice and comprehensive support for victims of domestic and sexual violence in Lagos State.

AI Chatbot ‘Ask INU’ for Immediate Support

Announcing the launch, DSVA’s Executive Secretary, Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, in a statement signed by Mrs. Adejoke Ladenegan-Oginni, Head of DSVA’s Public Affairs Unit, highlighted the AI-powered chatbot ‘Ask INU (I Need You)’ as a key tool for survivors.

The chatbot, accessible via WhatsApp (0812 893 7058), provides real-time information, referrals, and resources to survivors, ensuring confidential and immediate access to essential support services.

Self-Reporting Evidence Portal for Secure Case Management

The second initiative, a Self-Reporting Tool integrated into the Domestic and Sexual Violence Case Management System (DSVCMS), allows survivors and mandated reporters to securely submit case details and upload crucial evidence.

By visiting lagosdsvcms.org and clicking on the ‘Report’ tab, users can securely upload photos, audio or video recordings, and medical reports to strengthen their cases.

Vivour-Adeniyi emphasized the importance of evidence preservation, noting that 60% of survivors lose or delete crucial evidence due to fear, accidental deletion, or actions by their abusive partners. This portal ensures survivors can securely store and retrieve evidence when needed, strengthening prosecution efforts against domestic violence offenders.

Leveraging Technology to Combat Domestic Violence

Reaffirming DSVA’s commitment to using technology for survivor support and justice, Vivour-Adeniyi stated:

“These innovations break the culture of silence, provide seamless access to support services, and ensure perpetrators are held accountable. With these tools, survivors will receive the justice they deserve while Lagos works towards reducing domestic violence cases to the barest minimum.”

These digital advancements position Lagos State as a leader in using AI and technology-driven solutions to combat domestic and sexual violence, ensuring survivors receive swift justice and comprehensive support.
