Lagos LG Poll: Tension Mounts in Yaba APC Over Fresh Primary Demand
Stakeholders and top leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA) are demanding a fresh chairmanship primary ahead of the July 12 local government elections in Lagos State.
In a petition addressed to the Chairman of the APC Electoral Committee, Babatunde Ogala, the group strongly condemned the reported imposition of a candidate without due process. They described the move as “undemocratic, provocative, and a direct affront to the will of the people.”
The petition, signed by representatives from all nine wards in Yaba LCDA, was endorsed by:
-
Ward A – Domingo Babajide
-
Ward B – Kemi Aboyarin
-
Ward C – Adediran Olorunnimbe
-
Ward D – Taoreed Abiona
-
Ward E – Alani Ifatokun
-
Ward F – Oladunjoye Omoniyi
-
Ward G – Olaofe Fatai
-
Ward H – Idayat Abdul Rasaq
-
Ward I – Shakiru Adebowale
Identifying themselves as the Apex Leadership of APC in Yaba, the signatories warned that any attempt to impose a candidate could spark internal unrest, weaken party unity, and damage the APC’s credibility and electoral prospects in the LCDA.
Lagos APC Leaders Refute Claims of Imposition in Local Government Primaries
They urged the APC leadership at the state level to intervene immediately and halt what they described as an “external imposition,” cautioning that failure to act could have long-term consequences for the party’s cohesion and performance in future elections.
