The announcement that the Diploma Certificate in Local Government Administration—jointly coordinated by Lagos State University (LASU) and the Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC)—has received official recognition and approval from Governor Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu has been met with excitement and commendation across the state.

The news was disclosed by the Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, Hon. Kamal Ayinde Bayewu, during a working visit to Somolu Local Government.

“This development means that no local government staff should remain stagnant in their career progression,” Bayewu affirmed. “The Sanwo-Olu administration is committed to improving the welfare of local government workers.”

Bayewu also addressed concerns about delays in retirees’ benefits, attributing many of the issues to late submission of mandatory service documents.

“Let me say it loud and clear: submit all required service documents to the Pension Office before retirement. Neglecting this responsibility often results in unnecessary delays,” he emphasized.

He further advised council management to invest in the development of their subordinates, noting that capacity-building is essential for grooming effective future leaders within the system.
