Sanwo-Olu, Fashola, Meranda, and Others Pay Tribute to Ajose at Funeral Service

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, alongside his wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda, wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, and former Governor Babatunde Fashola, attended the funeral service of Dr. Akinsanya Sunny Ajose, former Head of Service and member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) in Lagos State.

Other dignitaries present included former Deputy Governors, Senator Oluranti Adebule and Princess Sarah Sosan; Alhaja Abimbola Jakande, wife of Lagos’ first civilian governor; members of the House of Representatives and Lagos State House of Assembly; as well as religious, political, and traditional leaders. Family, friends, and the Badagry community also gathered to pay their final respects.

The funeral service, held at the LTV 8 Ground, Blue Roof Pavilion, Agidingbi, Ikeja, was officiated by ministers from the Celestial Church of Christ, particularly from the Jedidah Parish I, Oke-Ira, Ogba.

Governor Sanwo-Olu’s Tribute

Governor Sanwo-Olu, speaking on behalf of the Lagos State Government, expressed condolences to the Ajose family and Lagos’ public service community, calling the late Ajose a “strong supporter and builder.”

“Dr. Akinsanya Sunny Ajose was a man of great significance to many. He served Lagos State with distinction for almost 50 years—first as a civil servant for nearly 35 years, reaching the pinnacle of his career as Head of Service. He later served as Special Adviser on Special Projects and played a key role in Lagos politics. He was a dedicated son of Badagry, a true Lagosian, and a respected Nigerian leader,” Sanwo-Olu said.

Political and Community Impact

Speaking on behalf of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) and the All Progressives Congress (APC), Lagos APC Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, praised Ajose for his contributions to the party’s growth, particularly in the Badagry Division.

“Dr. Sunny Ajose lived a fulfilled life as a civil servant, community leader, and politician. He transformed the political landscape of Badagry, ensuring progress and positive change,” Ojelabi stated.

Family and Religious Reflections

Ajose’s daughter, Kesha, paid a heartfelt tribute, saying:

“Our story does not end with your passing. This moment allows us to reflect on the privilege of having known you. One day, we will reunite and cherish all the wonderful moments we shared.”

In his sermon, Most Sup. Evang. Olusegun Olarinde, International Representative of the Celestial Church of Christ, encouraged attendees to live a meaningful life and leave a lasting impact.
