Sanwo-Olu Inaugurates Four Key Roads, Advancing Infrastructure on Lagos Mainland
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has inaugurated four newly constructed roads spanning over 10.10km in Oriade, Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area, reinforcing the state’s commitment to infrastructure development and improved transportation.
The commissioned roads—Old Ojo Road (Phase 1), Irede Road, Navy Town Road, and Mumuni Adio (Buba Marwa) Road—serve as critical links to jetties and multimodal transport networks in the area.
These roadways provide seamless connections between the Lagos Blue Line Rail on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway and the Inland Waterways terminals, facilitating enhanced mobility for residents and businesses. Irede Road (2.20km) extends from the Lagos-Badagry Expressway to Irede Jetty, enabling direct water transport access to riverine communities such as Ibasa, Ibeshe, Ilashe, and Imoore.
Mumuni Adio Road, a key arterial route, improves access to Tank Farms and Industries in Ijegun Egba, a major petroleum depot, while Navy Town Road connects Old Ojo Road to Ijegun Imoren Jetty, Central Bank Estate, and Navy Town Training School.
At the inauguration, Governor Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to modern infrastructure development, emphasizing that phase two of Old Ojo Road will be completed soon. He urged residents to maintain the newly built roads, warning against environmental degradation:
“We will not tolerate refuse on our roads. We want this area to reflect the same standards as Ikoyi,” he stated.
In addition to the road inaugurations, the governor also performed the groundbreaking ceremony for 1,500 lock-up shops at Iba Junction, promising that the shops will be made affordable for rightful owners.
Engr. Olufemi Daramola, Special Adviser on Infrastructure, highlighted the importance of these projects, stating that they will boost economic activities and enhance the prosperity of Amuwo-Odofin and Lagos at large.
