Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development, emphasizing its role in enhancing mobility, reducing congestion, and boosting economic growth.

Speaking on Friday at the commissioning of the Chief Yesufu Abiodun Oniru/Akiogun Road, an alternative route to Admiralty Circle Plaza, Abudu Smith Street in Eti-Osa Local Government Area, Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted the strides made in road construction across the state.

29 Roads Commissioned in Seven Weeks

Sanwo-Olu revealed that his administration has successfully commissioned 29 roads across Lagos State in the past seven weeks, spanning various local government areas, including Kosofe, Ifako-Ijaiye, Eti-Osa, Alimosho, Ikeja, and Amuwo-Odofin.

“Earlier today, we handed over Abudu Smith Road in Victoria Island, strategically linking Femi Pearse and Adeola Odeku. This project underscores our administration’s unwavering commitment to delivering life-changing infrastructure that improves residents’ quality of life and stimulates economic growth,” he stated.

Strategic Infrastructure for Economic Growth

The governor emphasized that the newly completed alternative route will ease traffic congestion, reduce travel time, and improve the overall living standard for residents.

“This road is not just about connectivity; it’s a strategic intervention to enhance socio-economic development. We are committed to ensuring that no part of Lagos is left behind, from Ibeju-Lekki to Badagry, Kosofe, and Agege,” Sanwo-Olu assured.

Looking ahead, the Lagos State Government has 15 to 17 additional road projects nearing completion, which will soon be handed over to the public.

“We will stop at nothing to ensure that we continue to enhance road networks, improve commuting experiences, and make Lagos a more livable city for all,” the governor added.

State’s Commitment to Road Infrastructure

The Special Adviser on Infrastructure, Olufemi Daramola, commended Governor Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat for their dedication to urban regeneration.

“This project aligns with ongoing infrastructural redevelopment efforts in Victoria Island, reinforcing the state’s commitment to a well-structured and accessible road network,” Daramola stated.

He further emphasized that the benefits of the road rehabilitation project go beyond reducing travel time—it also improves road safety, enhances property values, and boosts economic activities within the region.
