Lagos Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is set to unveil several new infrastructure projects, including the opening of five roads in the Ikeja Government Reservation Area (IGRA) on Thursday. Additionally, the governor will commission six major roads, totaling 4.7 km, across three Local Governments (LGs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Akoka, Bariga, and Gbagada.

The State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, shared this information in a statement made available to the media. He noted that the projects, scheduled for inauguration on Thursday, January 9, and Friday, January 10, 2025, reflect Governor Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to enhancing transportation infrastructure and ensuring a smoother, more efficient travel experience for Lagosians.

According to Omotoso, the 4.7-kilometer arterial roads set to be commissioned on Thursday, January 9, include St. Finbarr’s Road, Asani Street, Tijani Ashogbon Street, Jagunmolu Street, Shogbamu Street, and Diya Street. These roads extend from the University of Lagos Main Gate in Akoka to Deeper Life Church in Gbagada.

He further mentioned that on Friday, January 10, five key roads in Ikeja GRA will be commissioned. These roads—Oba Dosumu Street, Oduduwa Way, Oduduwa Crescent, Sobo Arobiodu, and Sasegbon Streets—measure a total of 6.134 kilometers and feature an upgraded drainage system designed to mitigate the frequent flooding in the area.

The commissioner urged residents to stay vigilant and cooperate with the Lagos State Government to prevent vandalism of these newly developed roads. He assured that Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration remains committed to upgrading existing roads and constructing new ones to benefit Lagosians, in line with the governor’s promise to improve the state’s infrastructure.
